Good Afternoon CFTP,First of all... Great news! I have put the order in for our apparel. We are doing our best to get them in plenty of time before Christmas so you all can buy them for your Christmas CrossFit fanatics! We will also have an order sheet coming soon to the gym that will be for hoodies. We will be collecting money and sizes before we order these. They will look like this in black and white hoodies. Stay tuned for pricing and for our order sheet.Now onto my spotlight... These past couple of weeks CrossFit XD has been doing a challenge that our Shayne Day has been participating in. In the first week Shayne back squatted 405# for 20 reps without dropping the bar. He was the only one that was able to complete this challenge! This past week the challenge was Fran.If you follow us on Facebook or are friends with me (which you better be!!) you have seen Shayne's videos go up. Now while Shayne Day is a beast and amazing to watch that is not what my focus is going to be today. Hopefully you have read through some of the comments. We can all agree that Shayne is stronger than me and most people we know. This does not hurt my feelings or ego to admit this. But Shayne accepts me as his coach. This is the sign of a great athlete. Throughout the thread above you see coaches from around the State giving advice to Shayne and Shayne accepts the advice and will improve. Being a teachable athlete is the only way we will improve. Because Shayne understands that every coach has something to bring to the table. We can learn if we listen and follow. I love the meme that is going around that says. "If at first you don't succeed, try doing what your coach told you the first time."Be coachable. We have very high caliber coaches at CFTP. I learn from them every time I go into a class. I may be the head coach at the gym but I am always in need of coaching as an athlete. There will never come a day in my life where I will say that I don't want someone to tell me how to improve.No matter how fast we become or how much weight we lift there will always be a cue or a different point of view that will help us progress. Keep an open mind. Don't just brush off advice from someone because you think you are better than them.
