Good Afternoon CFTP,Another great week. Getting ready for Murph tomorrow. As we get ready I want to explain what Hero WODs really mean in my opinion. Crossfit Hero WODs are named after heroes, military, police, firefighters, etc who have been killed in their line of work. These great men and women give us examples of being tough, resistant and fighting to the last second. These Hero workouts are some of the toughest WODs out there. With my military background I have a special spot in my heart for these Hero WODs. Each one of these Hero WODs are designed either by the Hero or are taken from some of the Hero's favorite movements. These Hero WODs will push you to your limit. They will have you reconsidering starting them but if you stick with it and give it your all you will feel the accomplishment of finishing something truly difficult. When I approach any Hero WOD I look up that Hero and I research them. I really want to get to know them and to know the circumstances of their death. This does two things for me: 1st: it pushes me so much harder during the workout. While I am in the middle of the workout, when my body wants to quit I am able to draw onto that knowledge that pushes me harder through the WOD. 2nd: It gives me an understanding of what these men and women went through and what our heroes are going through day in and day out to keep us protected. I believe learning from these heroes will push us to be better and to serve selflessly. As we take on Murph tomorrow in the morning I hope that you will take on the challenge to research Murph or even better yet, watch "Lone Survivor" tonight. Each time we do a Hero WOD I want you to think about who this is for and think about the sacrifice they made and the sacrifice their family made and continue to make with their absence.I couldn't pick a better group of people to struggle through Hero WODs with. We'll see you all in the morning.Coach Dan
