Coach Dan's Sunday Spotlight 12.9.2018

Good Afternoon CFTP,How great was yesterday? It was so much fun watching our 19 teams compete! We had many of you competing for the first time... We had Podium finishers and top 5 finishers... We had special moments like the WOD 3 finish from Miguel and Alejandro... Yesterday had it all! I am so proud of all of you who competed. It was so cool to see all of your hard work out on display and even cooler that it all happened at our event. We all should choose another event in the future to show up in big numbers... I'll keep my eye out!My focus today is, of course, going to be on TWBC4 but I want to focus on one aspect of it specifically. Before I go into that, I have to give a huge shoutout to Erik Bowman and Dave Martinez. These two dudes have been working with me for the past 2 months putting this together and then from Friday to Saturday, they put in well over 20 hours. So thank you! I also want to thank specifically Steve Arnoldus, Chris, Adam, Erica and Kim Carpenter, Aubrey and Emily, the Vogls and Brandon Bizzier, all of these peeps stayed late Friday night (like 10 PM) and then came back in before 6 AM and were the last ones to leave Saturday after we got done cleaning up the event. We had judges who judged the full 10 hours... Not even missing a heat! Everyone who volunteered even an hour helped us out so much. There is no way we could run an event without the volunteers going the extra mile. So thank you again.

Yesterday, all who were there, had the pleasure of witnessing the deeper meaning of competing and the deeper meaning of why CrossFit is so special. The atmosphere at the end of heat one of the men's scaled event 3 will always be something I look back on and treasure. Two of our own, Miguel and Alejandro, demonstrated what true grit and determination means. Not only that, the crowd watching and cheering these two on created a feeling of unity. We all were pulling for them to finish. Miguel and Alejandro may have been the two who were physically pulling that sled but we were all invested and we all wanted them to finish just as much as they wanted to finish. We were all screaming at Miguel as he got off the bike with only 45 seconds left to get the last and heaviest sled pulled across the line... As he pulled his last pull and the clock read 5:58, the place erupted because Miguel and Alejandro's success became all of ours. This is what sets us apart from the rest. That atmosphere and that drive and that connection we have to each other propels us to new levels. Every day that you come in and work hard and then cheer on your fellow classmates, not only makes those you are cheering on better but makes you better too. There's going to come a day when you are going to need that extra push and your fellow CrossFit The Point family will be there to give it to you because you were there to give it to them when they needed it. There will be a day when you are the one pulling that sled and you will be surrounded by your friends as they cheer you on.Thank you all once again for all your hard work this past weekend and also for all of you who competed. It means so much to me that you not only supported our event but also represented The Point so well.Coach Dan
