Coach Dan's Sunday Spotlight 5.17.2015

November 6, 2020

Good Evening CFTP,Sorry for the late post... I was busy watching the CrossFit Regionals... I hope you all had a chance to watch the best go at it this weekend. It was awesome. If not, there will be two more weeks of regionals before the competitors for the 2015 CrossFit Games are determined.First of all I want to make sure everyone that is doing the Lurong Summertime Challenge are on the same page. Make sure you all are marking your meals on the website so you get points for eating good. Even if you cheat you get more points for entering a cheat than not entering anything at all. Also, be sure to enter in your measurements and your benchmark WOD results. If you haven't been measured or if you haven't done your benchmark WOD you have until Wednesday to get them entered. Don't forget!I get so inspired when I watch the CrossFit Regionals or games. The work it takes to get to that level and how hard they push themselves when they get there is amazing. One of the greatest things about a CrossFit competition, even at the highest levels, is the sportsmanship. Everyone is cheering everyone else on. It doesn't matter that they are in competition with each other, they want to see everyone there succeed to their fullest potential. When Coach Glassman, founder of CrossFit, was on 60 minutes last week the thing that I loved most is that he said this, "I'll deliver you to your genetic potential... Look at her [Pointing to an athlete] she was meant to look like that. That's what nature would have carved from her a million years ago; or she would have been eaten."When I got into CrossFit I did so because I loved the challenge. As I have done it over the years his statement rings true to me. When I opened my gym I wanted to have a place where people achieved their potential. I want you to be everything you can be. I don't want anything to hold you back from what your body and your mind was meant to do. When I see you walk into the gym I see untapped potential. This is why I push you. This is why I tell you that you can do five more pounds or that you can do a pull-up. I see that in you and I know that you have it inside of you.Nothing is more satisfying as a coach than when you, as an athlete, see that inside of yourself and I don't have to tell you to throw on that extra five pounds because you have already thrown on 10. Or I don't have to tell you to stay after and do some strict pull-ups and transitions so you can get your ring muscle up; you are already doing it. You all have potential that I really don't believe you can see yet. It's there and our goal together should be to bring it out of you.You can watch the rest of Greg Glassman's interview here. 60 Minutes Greg Glassman. Can't wait for tomorrow and another week. See you all in the box.Coach Dan
