Coach Charms representing CFTP!

Good Afternoon CFTP,Before I do anything I want to give a huge shout out to our competitors who competed this last weekend. Coach Michelle, Coach LaDee, and myself competed at the SLC Saturday Night Lights event and took on the Rx+ crew. It was tough but was fun to be competing again. I loved joining two of our best trainers in a competition and watching them push through weaknesses and work so hard to do well. It was really inspiring to me.The one competitor I'd like to really talk about is our very own Coach Charms (Jeremy). He had his Power Lifting meet yesterday and set personal Prs across the board. While that is impressive in and of itself, the most impressive thing is the circumstances leading up to this event. Charms has been sick over the past month or so and has dropped nearly 30 pounds prior to this event. He dropped so much weight it dropped him out of the Super Heavy Weight division. I know he was disappointed with his loss of weight but that did not deter him. He still worked hard and pushed towards that goal of winning this event. He didn't hang his head he just accepted the circumstances and put one foot in front of the other. At the end of the day Coach Charms put up the following stat line: 633 squat, 369 bench, 683 deadlift, 1685 total and best lifter. All meet pr's!! Even at his lighter weight Coach Charms set personal records across the board. I am so personally impressed with his mental fortitude. I have been in many competitions prior to my CrossFit days and since I have started CrossFit and to be able to push through it like Charms did is not an easy task. We all have difficult circumstances and the way we face those challenges and difficulties will really determine the type of person we are. Are you the type of person who folds under pressure or are you the type of person who rises above it all like Coach Charms has this past weekend? Are you the type of person who gives up and says, "this isn't fair." or "I could do that but..."? Are you the type of person who passes blame onto others or who comes up with excuses to excuse your lack of effort and lack of mental fortitude? Or are you the type of person who sees difficult circumstances and challenges and says, "BRING IT ON!" ?I hope we are all the BRING IT ON type of people. Sometimes life isn't fair but that doesn't mean you can't overcome it. After watching Charms put up the kind of numbers he did this weekend I can tell you right now that he will be successful in this life. He has what it takes to overcome and push through any challenge that the world wants to throw at him. What we do in the gym directly transfers to our everyday lives. Success comes from within. The path to success will never be easy but everyone gets a little closer to that success each time we conquer that inner doubter inside of us. The only one that can determine the outcome is you.Keep your head up this week and push through those mental barriers. Be strong and know that you are not alone in this battle. Our coaching team and our community is here for you.Love you guys and I can't wait to see you all in the gym this upcoming week.Coach Dan
