Good Evening peeps!First and foremost huge congratulations to our Girls Gone Rx competitors. I want to start with the 3-woman team of Daphne Miller, Amy Merrill, and Angie Patterson. Each one of these ladies all came out of this competition with new personal bests! How many of us can say that this past weekend we cleaned more weight than we ever have before? Not many I am sure. I was super proud of these ladies who competed while knowing that they were going up against some top notch competition. I am really proud of them!We had another team there as well. This team included two of our own and one from our neighboring box CrossFit Highland. JoAnn, Lindsay and Tara put together a very solid all around performance. Their hard work put them atop the podium after 4 grueling WODs! This comp tested many different areas and after all the testing was complete they came out on top.I love seeing our CFTP peeps competing in these competitions and lately at many of these comps we are placing very well. We used to just be the gym with a lot of competitors. Now we are the box with lots of competitors but also competitors who are giving everyone a run for their money! I love seeing the progress made by all of you athletes.I want to relay an experience of mine that happened this past Friday night. So, Friday night we had a little WOD designed to send Matty off into the marriage world. A bachelor type event. As many of you know I have been dealing with an injury for about a year now that has prevented me from really doing what I wanted to do. This has in turn affected me as an athlete. I just got my most recent treatment and have been laying low for a couple of weeks. Well, I hate missing out on the fun so I jumped in and joined this group of beasts. Needless to say I did not make it through the full workout. When I got done I actually felt like I was in the worst shape of my CrossFit life...The reason I share this with you is because I believe many of us go through these ups and downs. Every one of us have missed coming into the gym for one reason or another. Many of us have fought through injury and have had to modify or have had to take it easy for a while. I realized something this past week. When they asked me to workout I flat out said no. It had become easy for me to say no. The longer I was away from the routine of working out the easier it became. I also realized the longer I was away the worse I felt. Not only physically but mentally. Our bodies need to be challenged. Our minds need to be challenged. We need adversity. We need to overcome fear. We need to have something thrown at us that makes us doubt ourselves. If we choose the easy path we become weak, physically and mentally. If we continually work to become better, we will be better. If we continually get up each time we fail, we will succeed.I love the quote in the picture above by Michael Jordan. "I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."My plea to all of you is for all of you to do yourself a favor and if you have been struggling to get into the box for whatever reason, make the decision now to fix that. Starting tomorrow you will change your habits. Starting tomorrow you will choose the path less traveled. Starting tomorrow you will make the changes necessary to do something that will make you better.Coach Dan
