Good Morning CFTP and Happy Father's Day!
I hope you all are having a great Father's Day weekend. First off, I want to thank everyone who was able to come out to the new space yesterday and help out. It is amazing what can be accomplished with so many helping hands. You really helped knock out a big portion of the painting and we are one step closer to moving over!
It's going to look so awesome! Progress report: We have a lot of the painting done, still need to have them put the showers in and a dividing wall between gyms. They have to put up another wall that will create the lounge area and then it's go time for moving over our stuff! We have 2 weeks! It's going to be a crazy two weeks!
I also want to thank Big Mike! It was really cool to go and hang out in your backyard with some of the CFTP peeps who were able to make it. You have a beautiful space and I really appreciate you for hosting, BBQing and inviting everyone!
Finally, I am going to turn the time over to our most recent official CrossFit Level 1 Coach! Zach Lake! Welcome to the training team and I look forward to having you coach our CrossFit The Point peeps!
Zach will be joining us as a coach in July and will bring a great attitude and great knowledge from his most recent Level one course. I hope you all take the opportunity to learn from him and to be patient with him as he progresses as a coach.
"My wife and I joined CrossFit the Point back in January of 2014. Looking for a change in fitness routine, we turned to CrossFit. CrossFit became a passion. Fitness, nutrition and the community.
Watching ourselves and the members around us make continued progress in our fitness program fed that passion. Whether it was a personal PR, a first pull-up, muscle up, or connecting Double-unders, the achievement of one person feels like a win for everyone in the class. It was that camaraderie and support that wanted me to pursue my Level 1 and start coaching.
There were a couple key points that stood out to me at the Level 1 training. First, how important form is. Whether it is with body weight or a heavy load, our form is key to moving safely and efficiently. No matter how long we have been doing these movements, cues and reminders before and during our workouts are always needed. Be humble, be coachable.
Second point I liked was recognizing the stimulus of the workout. Good programming will look at not just the day, but the weeks and months to insure all around functional training is being addressed. So, are we meeting that day's programming stimulus? Even if we are not sure what the stimulus for the WOD is, the coaches at the Point will help you hit that by recommending you to Rx or scale portions as they see fit. Hitting the designed stimulus will provide longer and better results, even if that means scaling.
Last year I took a small break from training to focus on our home remodel project. Coming back to training after the break, this concept was a tough one to follow at times. Trust the coaches, trust the process.
I look forward to working with all the members at the Point. This place has an incredible community and I hope to be asset to each of you in your fitness goals."
Thanks Zach! We are so excited to have you as part of the team. I know with your addition, the members will benefit as they pursue their fitness goals!
