Coach Dan's Sunday Spotlight 6.5.2016

November 6, 2020

Good Evening CFTP,What a weekend! Spartacus was a huge hit for all the competitors. I am so grateful for all the help that came from our members. We were a little shorthanded on the judging side of things which made for two very long days for those judges we had. I appreciate you all sticking it out and helping with this event. We are known for great events and the biggest reason is because of the consistency of the judges and the smoothness of the events.I also want to give a thank you to the volunteers who helped with the transport of all the equipment Saturday morning and back to the gym Saturday afternoon. That was a daunting task accomplished only because of the willingness of our members. Thank you again. Now a huge shout out to our member competitors. First of all we had 3 podium winners from our gym. Shayne Day #1 Gladiator, Amy Merrill #3 Tiro and Adam Carpenter #3 Tiro. These three did very well in a competition that was stacked! Besides these 3 beasts we had 21 other athletes compete in this weekend's event. There were PRs had and a lot of amazing things from these competitors. I am so grateful for your support of our event.Every time we throw an event at The Point I am always nervous that first and foremost we are going to have enough participants show up and secondly we are going to be able to deliver to those athletes that sign up. It's a scary thing to put your heart into something and not have it pan out the way you expect. Luckily for me, when I decide to throw a competition I am surrounded by supporters that build my confidence and help me accomplish the task. I have to thank Erik Bowman, co-competition-captain, Dave Martinez, partner in crime, and Coach LaDee, always head judge. There is a lot that goes into creating these competitions. It starts months before the competition actually goes down and these peeps are in the shadows with me every step of the way.Now it's back to the grind. I hope you athletes that competed learned something about yourselves. Physically and emotionally. Use those things you learned to your advantage in the days, weeks, and months ahead to help refocus yourself in the gym. For me competitions are a jumping off point. It is where I look at myself and discover my weaknesses and strengths. From there I make the conscious decision to get better. For those of you who did not compete this time around, set a goal to do so in the future. It doesn't have to be next weekend but set a realistic goal to compete in something that challenges you. It doesn't have to be CrossFit... Although we do have an amazing team comp coming up in Septemberish... (Keep your eyes out). Look at the schedule of events and look for something that catches your eye. There are so many things out there that will challenge you and make you a better person. We have one life to live. We are all busy but we have got to make time for ourselves. We have got to get out of the routine and do something that scares us. It doesn't matter if it is physical, emotional, in business, in your family life, or any other aspect of your life, you must continue to challenge yourself. It is ok to be satisfied with where you are at but it is never ok to settle. Just because you are as fit as you have ever been doesn't mean you can't be fitter. Just because you have lifted more weight than you ever have before doesn't mean that next week you can't lift a little bit more. Just because your business is doing better than it every has doesn't mean there aren't ways to make it better. You may be a great mom and dad now but that doesn't mean you can't do a little bit better. Be a better brother, sister, father, mother, son, daughter, and overall person.Summer is here! I'm excited for what is to come. Remember that the CrossFit Kids classes start Tuesday at 10:45 AM. Also don't forget to spread the word about our METCON classes MWF at 10:45 AM. This is a great way for your friends to get a taste of what CrossFit is.Coach Dan
