Good Afternoon CFTP,
I have decided since we are starting to get to know our teammates through our weekly Member Spotlights that it would be fun to learn a little bit more about our trainers on Wednesdays. Our first spotlight is going to be of Coach LaDee Dangerfield!
Coach LaDee is passionate about health and I am so grateful that she joined us at The Point. She takes no crap from no one but is as sincere as they come when it comes to helping our athletes achieve their goals. Thank you LaDee for being part of the CFTP Training team.

- How long have you been at The Point? August 19,2013
- What do you do for a living? My "real" job is a Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator at LDS hospital. I've had the privilege to work with this amazing and inspiring patients both pediatric and adults for the past 16 years. I help them navigate their journey through their treatments with the goal to help them win the battle with cancer! I hope they find a cure for cancer one day so I can move on to my next "dream job", to be the back driver on those long fire trucks!
- Prior to finding Crossfit what did you do for physical exercise? I was a highschool and collegiate cross country and track athlete, but after college I decided running was too hard on my body and began cycling. I did both mountain biking (competed a few times in this) and some road cycling. I have a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology so was very comfortable in a gym and spent some time "workin' the machines". I did some personal training as well as massage therapy for a period of time.
- If you had to pick your favorite accomplishment during Crossfit so far, what would it be? There have been so many accomplishments. Things I never thought I would be able to do and each year I continue to add to the list. I never thought I would get a muscle up. I'm still not efficient enough to connect them, so that's the new goal. One big accomplishment this year was being able to do Murph with a 20 lb vest!
- What is one piece of advice you could give new crossfitters that you wish you knew before you began? Be consistent. The thing that confused me in the beginning was when I was so sore from a workout, why in the heck would I go back the next day for more and be even more sore, but the human body doesn't work that way. If you are consistent and go on some type of pattern (3 days on, 1 day off or every other day), that inflammation and muscle soreness actually gets better, not worse. If you go once a week, expect to always be sore and and miserable.
- What is your favorite moment in Crossfit? My favorite moment(s) in Crossfit are when I get to wod or compete with my daughters. I've done a few competitions with my older daughter, Delaney, and loved every second of it. My younger daughter. Maya, and I have yet to compete, but spend many hours wodding together...highlight of my day!
- What is your favorite all time wod you have done? I love all the GIRL wods. I have a shirt that says "Aging with GRACE" and on the back it says "and FRAN..and HELEN.. and BARBARA..and CINDY..and ANGIE". As I get more "mature" through the years and I'm faced with a girl wod, my goal is to get at least the same time I got the year before and every year, my times have improved. I'm sure there will come a time when that's not the case, but for now, I'll enjoy it!
- What are your goals for the upcoming year? I hope to increase my snatch weight this year. That's one of the lifts that is very difficult for me.
- Before starting Crossfit what was your view of Crossfit? How has that changed since joining? I started Crossfit back in 2010 and I didn't know much about it then so didn't really have a view of it. Since then, I have never been in a more positive and encouraging environment in all my years of being an athlete since I left my college team. The Crossfit family is something you will never find in any other gym. It's more than just a workout for sure!
- Give me a brief summary of your Crossfit journey thus far. I began doing Crossfit with some friends of mine in his garage in September 2010. We mounted some piping for a pullup bar, made wall balls out of basket balls filled with sand and ducktaped shut, we bought some weights, used porch steps and sometimes old stools for our box jumps. From there I joined a Crossfit gym in Riverton in July 2011, then moved to CFTP in August 2013. I decided to get certified as a trainer in November 2012 and with my educational background in exercise physiology it was an easy fit. I got my powerlifting certification in April 2013, weightlifting certification in April 2016 and my Crossfit kids certification back in April 2014. I enjoy coaching both the adults and kids. It's so inpiring to watch members on their journeys to better health. To help them accomplish something that they never in a million years would've thought they could do. To see their confidence and self esteem just sky rocket. We're all on this journey called life together and you never have a promise of how long you have! Make the best of every day and push yourself beyond what you think you can do...you will amaze yourself!
